GSL WC 2012 Oct. 23 preview

♦ by Unknown Monday 22 October 2012

It is time for 2012 GSL World Championship and this time foreigners might even have a small chance of winning. 2011 edition was dominated by Mvp and MarineKing; is it going to change this year? With the amount of foreigners potential we actually might see that happening.

On October 23rd, we are going to witness three amazing Best-of-3 matches: Sen vs Pig, Sheth vs Desrow and MaJoR vs NonY.

Match 1: Sen vs Pig

Taiwanese star, Sen, currently with no notable achievements will face off Pig, one of Australia’s best players and entertaining streamers. Sen was already a part of GSL World Championship laster year, but he lost in the first round 2-0 against MarineKing. His current shape is relatively unknown.

Pig at the same time is constantly “on the grind” – he actively participates in multiple online cups and won the World Championship Series: Australia Nationals against mOOnGLaDe. This should be interesting.

Prediction: Sen 2-1 Pig

This match could potentially become the closest battle of the night as both players represent similar level of play at the moment. However, after tough fight Sen should come out victorious.

Match 2: Sheth vs Desrow

Well, you cannot say that this is not a game of “big” players. Luckily for the fans both of them are pretty strong with their main races, which guarantees a good show. Desrow is currently staying at the Ministry of Win, where after recent drama surrounding food at the house was resolved everything’s fine now and Canadian player can focus again on the game. His opponent, the nicest guy on earth, Sheth is also Desrow’s complete opposite; if Sheth is the saint among players then Desrow is devil’s right hand. Who’s going to win the game of deities?

Prediction: Sheth 2 -1 Desrow

Personally, I love Desrow to death – he’s such an awesome dude if you won’t make him mad, but in this match he is the underdog. Sheth has been showing decent results recently in both team leagues and solo cups. Is Proulx going to „defeat the imbalance that is zerg?” We will find out soon.

Match 3: MajOr vs NonY

It was this match that led to Tyler's suspension from tournament play. Watch their game to see what really happened that made him so frustrated. According to team manager, Tyler has been suffering from severe case of depression for the past few months, which didn't allow him to play his A-game and caused his tournament absence. However, fear not as he will not play in any tournament for two months only. Nazgul, Team Liquid’s manager, stated that the team will keep supporting him no matter the situation.

Remember to tune in to IPL’s stream on October 23rd and “ROOT” for you favorite player. Remember that this is only the beginning of the foreigners qualifier round. In the next few days we will be able to watch games like Ret vs DeMusliM, TLO vs Dimaga, VortiX vs MaNa and more. Stay tuned!
