Game 1

OP

Bans: Orianna, Lee Sin, Zyra

Picks

  • Malphite - May (top)
  • Rengar - Nolja (jungle)
  • Karthus - Cornsalad (mid)
  • Ezreal - SBS (adc)
  • Lulu - ManyReason (support)

KT

Bans: Twisted Fate, Katarina, Anivia

Picks

  • Jayce - Vitamin (top)
  • Nocturne - ReSEt (jungle)
  • Ahri - Zero (mid)
  • Graves - Hiro (adc)
  • Sona - Wall (support)

At the beginning of the game, KT initiated a lane switch forcing the top laners into 1v2 situations. Once Cornsalad hit level 6, Nolja went to gank top, with the help of May and Cornsalad, they were able to take down Hiro for first blood. The game progressed with both teams trading kills and towers, however, it seemed that KT Rolster edged ahead in early aggression, getting the kill lead. The game quickly reached the team fight stage, and in the first team fight, TeamOP decimated KT Rolster for a 4-1 trade, taking control of the game. Both teams proceeded to dance around the map, OP looked to force another fight while KT attempted to gain an advantage with objectives. Eventually, OP found an opportunity to initiate. The ensuing team fight ended disastrously again for KT, giving OP another ace. KT found opportunities to retaliate, however they were unable to prevent OP from taking baron and immediately won the next team fight and match.

Game 2

OP

Bans: Lee Sin, Zyra, Orianna

Picks

  • Jayce - May (top)
  • Mundo - Nolja (jungle)
  • Kassadin - CornSalad (mid)
  • Kog'Maw - SBS (adc)
  • Sona - ManyReason (support)

KT

Bans: Anivia, Karthus, Malphite

Picks

  • Olaf - Vitamin (top)
  • Skarner - ReSEt (jungle)
  • Diana - Zero (mid)
  • Ezreal - Hiro (adc)
  • Blitzcrank - Wall (support)

In Game two, KT pit Wall and Hiro against Cornsalad, sending Zero bot. On the other hand, OP sent SBS and ManyReason top against Vitamin, and May bot against Zero. For a while, the lane switch seemed to favor KT, being able to shut down CornSalad and pick up first blood from him. However, OP did not falter, and as soon as KT re-switched their lanes, CornSalad caught up and pushed Zero out of lane. Taking this opportunity, OP went for dragon and was soon met with aggression from KT. However, a nice grab from Wall on Blitzcrank allowed them to win the small skirmish and take an early tier two turret. Things were already looking grim for KT Rolster. Both teams would once again clash in mid, and once again, the fight ended badly for KT. It was time to re-assess KT's situation as they quickly switched their approach to the game. Instead of fully committing to fights, Kt opted to play a pick off game, catching an enemy, killing them, and immediately disengaging. Through this method, they were able to catch up to OP in gold. Team OP was now playing much more cautiously, wary of KT's pick off capabilities. After dancing around the map, KT was finally able to pick off May, which allowed them to bulldoze their way into OP's base, taking the tower, and finally winning a team fight. KT's patience and pick off play finally paid  off, as they finally had the strength to beat OP in a fight head on, barely picking up the ace and inhibitor. Having more map control, KT felt confident and started baron. OP spotted them with a ward and immediately moved to intercept. Unfortunately, it was too late as a baron buffed KT Rolster immediately engaged onto Team OP, picking up the ace and the game, tieing the series.

Match Breakdown

In Game one, KT was just unable to get the team fights they wanted. While they traded evenly at first, Team OP had too much AoE damage with Malphite and Karthus which allowed OP to sweep through team fights. The game was really well played by OP as they waited until CornSalad had all available spells before engaging a fight. This resulted in CornSalad flashing into KT with Defile and destroying KT with his AoE and Ultimate.

Game two started out looking grim for KT. While the lane switches worked out in KT's favor, they were unable to shut down CornSalad as much as they'd hoped. Once the lanes returned to normal, CornSalad was immediately able to catch up and bully Zero. Through small skirmishes, KT realized they were no match for OP in team fights and opted for another strategy. Fortunately, KT had a prime team composition for picking off single targets, and that's what they did. With amazing Blitzcrank grabs from Wall, and Skarner's impale, they were easily able to pick off OP members and immediately disengaged. This allowed KT to gain the strength to finally beat OP in team fights and win the game.

MVP

The MVPs are CornSalad in game one, and Wall in game two. CornSalad was just devastating as Karthus. Every team fight he was able to get into the middle of KT Rolster's team and melt health bars. He singlehandedly won team fights by simply standing there with his AoE and Requiem.

In game two, Wall landed beautiful grabs. While not all his grabs ended in victory, they were still extremely accurate. With some follow up from his team, they made great pick offs which ultimately won them the game.
