Saw Director in Talks for MacGyver Movie

Because 2010's MacGruber wasn't enough, New Line is moving forward with their feature adaptation of MacGyver. Horror auteur James Wan (Insidious, Saw) is now in talks to direct the film, reports Variety.

Based on the 1980s television series, MacGyver starred Richard Dean Anderson as the fictional government agent of the same name, who would use his wits and whatever was laying around to fight bad guys. As of right now, no plot details have been divulged, but expect the involvement of a paper clip, some chewing gum and a piece of string.

Raffaella and Martha De Laurentiis will produce the pic through their Dino De Laurentiis banner, along with Lee David Zlotoff. Wan, meanwhile, recently wrapped on New Line's The Conjuring, which is scheduled to hit theaters this summer.
