While rumors of when Apple's iPhone 5 will be released have yet to be substantiated, the website, TechnoBuffalo, might have a good idea of what it's going to look like. In a new take on hands-on learning, faculty at Northwest Kansas Technical College are using
iPad with select apps to teach students in disciplines ranging from auto technology to respiratory therapy and cosmetology. Instructors use iPad and AirPlay to demonstrate procedures, record them, and play them back on flat-panel classroom displays for their students to view and discuss. Students use iPad to access instructor-annotated lessons in collaborative textbooks and to create digital portfolios to show potential employers. Says Northwest College Tech president Dr. Guy E. Mills, “The learning potential with iPad is just endless.”
