Assassin's Creed Movie in 2013?

The Assassin's Creed movie starring Michael Fassbender could be out as early as next year.

Speaking to GamesIndustry.biz about the future of the franchise beyond the release of ACIII, Ubisoft's chief sales and marketing officer Geoffroy Sardin said:

“Another thing that is very important for the lifecycle is the transmedia offer. All the figurines, the books, the publishing, and we have a movie in the next coming year. So it's not only about games, we are talking about a global brand, and this is the life cycle management we want to set up now.”

Now this could mean a few things. He could, of course, be referring to the production of the film, which has been fast-tracked, not its actual release date. It could also refer to the next financial year 2013/14, with the film coming out in 2014. But either way, it sounds like the production of the movie is on track and we'll see it very soon.

So far details on the production have been scarce, but we recently found out that the film will be financed and distributed by New Regency.
