Black Ops 2 PS3 Owners Experiencing Problems

♦ by Unknown Thursday 15 November 2012

Reports are coming in that PlayStation 3 owners are unable to redeem their downloadable content codes for Call of Duty: Black Ops II.

A number of users over on the EU PlayStation Website are reporting difficulties in claiming the Nuketown 2025 and Nuketown Zombies maps.

We are aware of connectivity issues that some players are facing in Black Ops II on PlayStation 3. We are working on resolution, thank you.

Codes for the maps were included in pre-order copies of the game, as well as the Hardened and Care Package Editions. Players are especially keen to get hold of the promised goodies ahead of this weekend's double XP play session.

Details on exactly what's gone wrong remain foggy, and IGN has reached out to Activision for clarification, but some users are reporting that Sony support has told them their codes were already redeemed in Germany. The Activision Support Twitter account is telling players to keep trying, as the issue may be related to the high volume of traffic the system is currently experiencing.

Early reports suggest the best course of action is to ring Sony support directly, as they can issue replacement codes and find out what went wrong.

Alongside these issues, PS3 owners who've managed to get online without incident are reporting big connectivity issues. Activision Support has responded, "We are aware of connectivity issues that some players are facing in Black Ops II on PlayStation 3. We are working on resolution, thank you."

That message was repeated by Treyarch design director David Vondehaar, who tweeted, "We are indeed up and running, but we are also aware not everyone can connect. We are investigating something with our partners at Sony.

"We are currently testing backend matchmaking changes that we think can help with this. I don't have a time table, or I would tell you."

Though some players have reported that things are smoothing out now, others are still claiming intense lag and disconnects. We'll be sure to update the article as the story develops.
